Handling essential documentation for international transactions
Through Commercial Discounting, BAI Europa can provide the exporter (beneficiary) with an advance on the revenue from credit sales of goods and/or services, within the framework of export operations linked to an Export Documentary Consignment or an Export Documentary Credit, duly documented.
Export Documentary Collections
Once goods are shipped, the exporter submits the relevant documents to BAI Europa, which forwards them to a bank in the importer’s country. That bank then releases the documents to the importer, typically against payment and according to agreed collection instructions.
In these transactions, banks are not responsible for payment — only for the delivery of documents in accordance with the exporter’s instructions. These remittances may, however, be financed at the discretion of the involved banks. See Commercial Discount for further information.
Import Documentary Collections
Documents such as invoices, transport records, and insurance policies are sent by the exporter’s bank to BAI Europa, which acts as the importer’s bank. BAI Europa then delivers the documents to the importer against payment or under the terms established by the exporter.
As with other such operations, participating banks do not assume responsibility for payment. However, when delivering the documents to its client (the importer), BAIE may choose to accept payment for the consignment by extending credit to the importer for part or the full value of the consignment.
