Our strategy is grounded in a conservative risk profile, ensuring the continuity, profitability, and solvency of the business under any circumstances.
The team is composed of professionals with significant experience in the banking sector, as well as in management and control roles. By the end of 2024, we anticipate a workforce of around 100 employees.
We offer transaction and payment solutions, as well as savings products, including Term Deposits with competitive rates, to both resident and non-resident clients.

Banco Angolano de Investimentos SA (BAI), originally established on 14 November 1996 as Banco Africano de Investimentos SA, changed its name in 2011 to its current form. It is Angola’s first private bank.
To be closer to its clients and provide financial services beyond borders, Banco Angolano de Investimentos opened a branch in Lisbon.
On 1 September 2002, Banco BAI Europa SA (BAIE) was established as a subsidiary, following a change in legal status from a branch. Banco Angolano de Investimentos is its main shareholder.

Banco Internacional de S. Tomé e Príncipe (BISTP), founded on 3 March 1993, is the first private commercial bank in the country. In 2004, BAI acquired a 25% stake in BISTP.
On 21 November 2008, BAI Cape Verde (BAI CV) was established as a hub for business with Guinea-Bissau.
Since 4 November 2014, BAIE, like other credit institutions in Eurozone member states, has been subject to harmonised supervision by the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). This includes oversight from the European Central Bank and national authorities, such as the Bank of Portugal.
On 9 June 2022, BAI's shares were admitted to trading on the stock exchange market managed by BODIVA-SGMR, SA (Angola’s Debt and Securities Exchange – Regulated Market Management Company, Public Limited Company).
With this market capitalisation, BAI became the seventh-largest listed bank in Southern Africa and the 17th-largest listed bank in Africa.
