Background, History, Banking/BAI Experience
César Abel Rodrigues Gonçalves began his professional career as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1979, where he advanced to the position of Partner. As a Partner, he held various positions in PwC's governing and technical bodies, notably serving on the Executive Committee (2015–2018), the Governance and Supervisory Board, and the Technical Committee—having served as both Member and Chair of the latter two.

A registered member of the Portuguese Chartered Accountants Association (Ordem dos Revisores Oficiais de Contas), César Gonçalves held several roles within the association, including Coordinator of the Professional Training Committee, Member of the Disciplinary Board, Secretary of the Representative Assembly Board, and Member of the Quality Control Committee. He was also an instructor in the Chartered Accountant Candidate Program.

In academia, between 1991 and 2018, César Gonçalves was a guest lecturer at ISCAL, teaching courses in the fields of Auditing and Accounting. He has been a Non-Executive Director at Banco BAI Europa since 2021.
