Background, History, Banking/BAI Experience
João Albino Cordeiro Augusto began his career at Grupo Impresa in 1979 as an advisor to the financial management. The following year, he joined Arthur Young & Co. In 1989, he obtained the status of Chartered Accountant (Revisor Oficial de Contas – ROC).

Three years later, he took on the role of Senior Audit Manager at KPMG and was appointed Partner in 1995, a position he held until his retirement in December 2015. During his tenure, he was responsible for the Government, Health, and Real Estate & Tourism sectors.

Throughout his career at KPMG, he was successively responsible for the offices in Porto, Funchal, and Luanda, while maintaining responsibilities in Lisbon. In 2012, he completed the necessary procedures to register with the Angolan Order of Accountants and Accounting Experts as an Accounting Expert.

In his role as ROC and Accounting Expert, he served on numerous Audit Committees in large and complex national and international companies such as Siemens, BCP, GE, Sonangol, Nestlé, Companhia de Seguros Império, and Sonangol.

In addition to his professional work as ROC and Accounting Expert, he was appointed in 2016 as an independent member of several Audit Committees, including Banco BAI Europa, the Ageas Insurance Group, Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks Europe, and the Pestana Group. He has been Chairman of the Audit Committee of Banco BAI Europa since 2022.
